Leonard Howard Reedy was an American painter known for his depictions of cowboys, Native Americans, horses, and life in the American West. Born in Chicago, he developed an early admiration for Frederic Remington and pursued art studies in his hometown. His travels through the Midwest, West, and Southwest provided material for the frontier subjects that became his specialty. Often called “Chicago’s Cowboy Painter,” Reedy is particularly associated with watercolors that convey the movement, drama, and everyday activity of Western life.
