The complete set, comprising 96 etchings, plus 11 etchings for the vignettes, with the additional suite of 96 etchings on japon nacré, 1948, signed in black ink on the justification page and stamp-numbered 37, from the total edition of 335 (there are also 33 hors commerce sets numbered in Roman numerals), with title page and text in French by Nicolas Gogol, on Arches wove paper, printed by Louis Fort, published by Tériade, Paris, contained in the original paper wrappers and cream paper-covered boards and slipcase (203 prints)
sheets approx.: 375 by 277 mm 14¾ by 11 in
overall: 402 by 300 by 166 mm 15⅞ by 11¾ by 6½ in

Condition Report:
With full margins, the prints are in good condition apart from pale uneven discoloration and an occasional fox mark. Some sheets with an inconspicuous pressure mark or faint traces of stray ink in the margins. (One print with a small tear in upper left corner.) The additional suite on japon nacré are in good condition apart from an occasional fox mark, several with some creasing in the margins and a few with very faint discoloration at sheet edges. The paper wrappers with discoloration and scattered foxing. The boards and slipcase with surface soiling, minor wear and spots of discoloration.
