LOT 471

Les Pommes, Georges Braque

[ translate ]

Property of a Private Collector, Europe
Georges Braque
1882 - 1963
Les Pommes

signed G.B. (lower right)
brush and ink and charcoal on paper
35.4 by 51.1cm., 14 by 20⅛in.
Framed: 61 by 76cm., 24 by 29⅞in.
Executed in 1952.

Condition Report:
Executed on cream laid paper, not laid down, attached to the mount at each corner and at the centre of the upper and lower edges and floating in the over-mount. The edges are slightly uneven and the sheet is slightly undulated in places. There are a few nicks and small tears to the upper and lower edges (the largest of which is approx. 7mm), as well as a few tiny paper accretions to the lower edge. There are some tiny repairs to the upper two corners which probably relate to artist pinholes. There are white dots of gouache paint to the centre of the left and right edges, which are almost certainly part of the artist's process. There are vertical creases running the length of the left and right edges (approx. 2cm in from the edges), due to previous folding and some light handling creases and a few light surface scratches in places. This work is in overall good condition.

Condition 11 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable to this lot.

Provenance:
Denise Laurens, Brussels

Acquired from the above by the present owner in 2007
