Handwritten and signed letter from Rabbi Avraham Dov Ber Kahana Shapira written during his historic fundraising journey in the United States.
In 1924, it was decided to send a respectable delegation of rabbanim to the United States in order to fundraise for the struggling yeshiva world. The three rabbanim chosen for this holy mission were Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook, Rabbi Avraham Dov Ber Kahana Shapira and Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka.

Rabbi Avraham Dov Ber Kahana Shapira (1870 - 1943) was the son of Rabbi Zalman Sender Kahana Shapira and son-in-law of the Gadol of Minsk. At the young age of thirty-five, he published part one of his sefer Dvar Avraham which was enthusiastically embraced by the Torah world. At the age of forty-two he was appointed Rabbi of the great city of Kovna and served in this position until his passing in the Kovno ghetto.
