Letter from Rabbi Yehuda Lichtenstein, AB”D of Bethlen

Letter from Rabbi Yehuda Lichtenstein, Av Beis Din of Bethlen and nephew of Rabbi Hillel of Kolomyia addressed to his uncle, Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger.
On the back side of the letter, Rabbi Akiva Yosef penned a draft response where he mentions the Maskil el Dal.

Rabbi Yehuda Lichtenstein was the son of Rabbi Kapple Lichtenstein, Av Beis Din of Bethlen. He was a disciple of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Paneth and son-in-law of Rabbi Avraham Yissaschar Leichtag, Av Beis Din of Hidalmash. He succeeded his father’s position as Rabbi of Bethlen and served in this capacity for 42 years. His prayers were loud and enthusiastic and many came just to hear them. His letters and novellae are published in the sefer Chinuch Beis Yehuda.
