Letter from Rabbi Yosef Asher HaLevi Polack, Av Beis Din of Verpelét, dated Verpelét, 1924, addressed to Rabbi Ephraim Fishel Sofer of Budapest.
Rabbi Yosef Asher HaLevi Pollack (1898 - 1944) was a disciple of his uncle, Rabbi Yosef Leib Sofer, Av Beis Din of Paksh, and of the Shevet Sofer. He was a son-in-law of Rabbi Yehuda Altman, author of Mei Yehuda. He served as Av Beis Din and Rosh Yeshiva in Verpelét beginning in the 1922 and perished in 1944. Remnants of his Torah novellae were published in Sheeyris Yosef Asher. He taught many important and prominent disciples such as the late Admor of Erlau.
