Letter of Torah Novellae by Rabbi Pinchas Segal Tzimmetbaum, AB”D of Grosswardein

Handwritten letter of Torah novellae from Rabbi Pinchas Segal Tzimmetbaum.

In his letter Rabbi Pinchas writes, “…when the famous scholar Rabbi Zussman Sofer z”l, author of Sefer HaMikneh was in Krenitz, with the Admor of Shinowa, the aforementioned Rabbi asked him…”

Rabbi Pinchas Segal Zimetbaum (1865 - 1944) was the Rosh Av Beis Din of Grosswardein and a renowned Torah scholar. Born in Tarnow, Galicia, he studied under Rabbi Yitzchak Schmelkes, Av Beis Din of Lvov and author of Beis Yitzchak. At the young age of thirty he was appointed Rosh Av Beis Din in the great city of Grosswardein. He served in this capacity for fifty years until the rise of the Nazi regime. Divrei Pinchas Responsa was published from his writings and includes a detailed recount of his life. He is the father-in-law of Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Weiss, Gaavad of Yerushalayim, author of Minchas Yitzchak Responsa.
