Liesbeth Rahder (Volendam, 1955) - Under Pressure

[ translate ]

\Artist: Liesbeth Rahder (Volendam, 1955)
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Hand signed
Liesbeth Rahder (Volendam, 1955) studied at the Amsterdam Rietveld Academy from 1980 to 1985. She paints intuitively and starts with large structured colour surfaces all over the canvas, before going into detail. In it she can go very far, with minute inscriptions that are often scratched in the wet paint with a palette knife or the back of a brush. The performances are similar to her handwriting and it is the contradictions and similarities of the figures that draw the viewer into the work, forcing you to make your own story. No matter how narrative and recognisable her performances are, it seems as if Liesbeth Rahder always follows the impulse to bring out the particularities of the material she works with, with brush or palette knife. She works predominantly with oil on canvas, but in the sculptures she recently made you can see her sensitivity and sublime sense of materials; combinations of natural stone and bronze and wrought iron. Any damage and unevenness visible in the photos is part of the description. The paper has a light bulge. Viewing is possible, of course. All information can be found on our website.
