Lion, Sculpture - Marble - Late 19th century
Stylophore lion in Greek marble. As can be clearly seen from the photos, it is not pantographed. Item of excellent craftsmanship. Note the peculiarity of the hole in the girth, which was designed to give greater lightness to the lion's body. The hole in the base, on the other hand, was made so that it was possible to use tools to carve out the girth. The pierced part of the base was filled with other stone material. Careful shipping in a wooden crate is guaranteed.
