First edition, first issue (with uncorrected text, and ads labeled "5 G. 8.85" and "5 B. 8.85" at rear). 8vo. 320, 16 (ads) pp. Illustrated with folding color frontispiece map, and one in-text map on p. 27. Original red cloth, stamped in gilt and in black, cocked, spine and front board edges darkened, soiling on front and rear boards, spine ends a bit rubbed and chipped, corners lightly worn; all edges trimmed; front and rear hinges worn, several gatherings starting, rear ads partially unopened; small morocco book-plate on front paste-down; in gilt decorated niger solander box; with morocco book-plate in lid.
