Lodewijck Van Boeckel - Hanging chandelier with roses

Impressive unique and rare chandelier in very good condition, dated on the inner ring (see photo) 4 July 1931 (not signed by the artist) . Dimensions: diameter inner ring 50 cm, diameter with lamp holders 1000 cm, height ring 26 cm, total height 1100 cm. Lodewijk Van Boeckel (Lier, 16 January 1857 - 6 July 1944) was a Belgian art smith. As a student and largely self-taught, Van Boeckel managed to work his way up. With his successful participation in the Rubens competition exhibition, his fame really grew. Around 1900 on world level he was at the top. In that year he won the highest award at the World's Fair in Paris, in which 378 art smiths from all over the world participated. Van Boeckel mainly designed ornamental objects, often decorated with flowers and animals, but also chandeliers, banisters, fences, signs and bas-reliefs. His work belongs to the romantic period, although he already experimented with innovative (non-figurative) elements. Technical information: 220V - 5 x MAX 40W - E27 brass socket - 5 x rose glasses with collar (not original) - electrically completely new wiring. Shipping: home delivery; fitting holder and rose forgings on the inner ring are disassembled!
