These panels, typical of the 15th century, once decorated the ceilings of churches and palaces in the Po Valley area of Lombardy. Among the most important exponents of this pictorial expression, we remember the workshops of Bonifacio Bembo and Vincenzo Civerchio. The panels from the Castle of San Martino di Gusnago are preserved both at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Other paintings are preserved in the Milanese museums Poldi Pezzoli and Castello Sforzesco.
