London Armoury Revolver
London Armoury produced Kerr’s Patent Revolver. Matching serial numbers 3622. Nice check wood grips, stamped front of grips with "JS" over anchor, the Confederate inspection mark of John Southgate. Actions work. Excellent condition. The Kerr's Patent Revolver was a distinctive British-made five-shot percussion revolver designed by James Kerr and manufactured by the London Armoury Company from 1859 to 1866. Recognizable by its unusual side-mounted hammer and solid top-strap frame, it was primarily a single-action revolver chambered in .44 caliber (54-bore), though a few smaller .36 caliber examples were produced. Known for its rugged construction and simple lockwork, the Kerr revolver became especially famous during the American Civil War, when thousands were imported through the blockade for Confederate cavalry use. Many historians consider it one of the finest foreign revolvers carried by Confederate officers and mounted troops.
