Longquan celadon vase - Porcelain - Carved Tiger - China - Yuan-Ming Dynasty
A carved 'Longquan' celadon glazed 'tiger' vase, Yuan/Ming dynasty 14th century. The slender baluster form rising to the tall neck surmounted by a rounded rim, carved with a ferocious tiger on one side and a tree on the reverse, between plantain on the neck and stiff leaves above the foot.
A depicting of a tiger is rather rare on porcelain, but especially on Longquan wares.
