Łopieńscy/Bronzomar/Miecznik (?) - Warsaw - Statue of a Scytheman (Kościuszko Uprising/National Uprisings/Patriotism)

[ translate ]

A patriotic figure of a scythe-wielder, crafted at one of Warsaw’s workshops; a model reproduced by the Łopieńscy Brothers, Bronzomar, and Miecznik; this particular piece bears no visible signature. This model is known both as a standalone decorative sculpture and as a component of more elaborate functional pieces, including luxury desk inkwells.

Material: bronze, marble.
Size: Height 18 cm.
Condition as shown in the photos.

The figure of a scythe-wielder is depicted in a dynamic pose, standing on a stylized, rocky surface. The figure is mounted on an irregular, hexagonal base made of marble. The sculpture is secured to the base with a metal rivet set into a wooden peg inserted into a hole in the base. The scythe is a partially movable element—the blade (scythe knife) is removable and secured with a threaded connection, which highlights both the functional and assembly-related nature of this detail.

The object represents high-quality artistic craftsmanship from the interwar period, combining national themes with a decorative form intended for representative interiors.
