Lot of 10 Eastern Roman Pottery Oil Lamps

**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Holy Land, Eastern Roman Empire, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A wonderful ensemble of mold-formed pottery oil lamps from the Eastern Roman Empire. Five lamps have discoid bodies, with three having no thumb rest, and two with a petite thumb rest. Three lamps exhibit slipper-form bodies with corseted neck channels. One conical lamp has impressed foliate patterns around the shoulder. The largest lamp has a conical thumb rest and raised ovolo patterns around the shoulder. Lucite display stands for photography purposes only. Size of largest (ovolo): 4" L x 2.6" W (10.2 cm x 6.6 cm)

Provenance: private Dunn collection, Coral Springs, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1990s

Condition Report: All items have chips and abrasions to bases, bodies, wick spouts, and thumb rests where applicable, with light encrustations, and softening to some finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
