Lot of 2: Bisque Head Early 20th Century Dolls.

Lot consists of: The larger of the two dolls is 28" (69cm) and is incised "119-13 Handwerck 5 Germany". She has an open mouth with four upper teeth, brown glass sleep eyes with painted lower lashes and silk upper lashes, as well as nicely painted and molded eyebrows. She is on the original fully jointed wood and composition body with good original patina. She wears an antique cotton and lace pleated dress with period blond mohair wig with side part and tight short curls. Shoes are of leather and newer than the doll. The second doll is 19-1/2" (50cm), and is incised on the back of the head "DEP 7", she also bears a red stamp reading "TETE JUMEAU". She has an open mouth with four upper teeth and a slightly smiling expression, blue glass sleep eyes with painted lower lashes and silk upper lashes, nice eyebrows and a creamy complexion. She is on a fully articulated wood and composition French body with mostly original patina, bearing and oval paper label on the back torso reading "BEBE JUMEAU DIPLOME D'HONNEUR". Her costume is of the period if not original, and is cream silk with lace overlay with a pink silk shawl, fur trim and a matching hat, as well as the original nice quality dark human hair wig over hard composition pate. She has one antique brown leather shoe, the other is missing. The large doll has some wig pulls along the front of head and one wig pull in the left center forehead, but relatively high in position. The smaller doll has slight color unevenness on the left cheek. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: Largest: 27" x 11" x 6".
