Lot of 2 Carved Stone Snuff Bottles, Early 20th Century
A group of two Chinese carved stone snuff bottles dating from the early 20th century. The malachite snuff bottle is carved in a gourd form with a stem-shaped finial, the opal snuff bottle features a flying woman with a crystal stopper without a spoon.
Dimensions: the larger malachite snuff bottle measures 2 3/4 inches tall X 1 1/2 inches wide, 7 cm tall X 3.8 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: A few miniscule chips to the rim of the malachite snuff bottle. The opal snuff bottle has significant breakage to the flying woman.
Provenance: From Mrs. Hillebrand in Chicago. Her father-in-law purchased these items in China and Hong Kong between 1935 and 1970. Lots 79-90 from our March 14, 2019 auction were from the same collection.
