Lot of 2 First Nations Alaskan Cedar Totems

First Nations, Canada, British Columbia & United States, Alaska, ca. late 20th century CE. A pair of hand carved cedar wood totem poles, one is painted with a frog and thunderbird, and the other is a bear with salmon, whale, and thunderbird. The smaller is signed on the verso "H. Rudick" for Henry Rudick, a non-Native carver married into the Williams family, members of the Ditidaht First Nation, from whom he learned traditional carving. The larger one is in by a Quatsino / Kwakwaka'wakw artist and likely influenced by George Nelson's (1884-1969) style of carving. Size of taller totem: 13" L x 2.5" W x 21" H (33 cm x 6.4 cm x 53.3 cm)
