Lot of 2: German Bisque Socket Head Dolls.

Lot consists of: The larger of the two, 29" (74cm), is incised "SIMON & HALBIG 1249 DEP GERMANY SANTA 13-1/2". She has an open mouth with four upper teeth, the slight hint of a smile, deep blue glass sleep eyes with finely painted upper and lower lashes, molded and enameled arched eyebrows. All on the original fully jointed wood and composition body with fine original finish. She has a very nice antique blond mohair wig, with bangs and a hair ribbon, and all period if not original clothing. She is lacking shoes. The smaller doll, 21" (53cm), is a Kammer & Reinhardt, incised "Halbig K &*, 53,". She has an open mouth with four upper teeth and a protruding upper lip, pale blue glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes as well as remnants of the silk upper lashes, nicely executed eyebrows with enameled brows, and pierced ear lobes. Original fully jointed German wood and composition body has original finish and only slight typical age wear. Her clothing is a pale strawberry cotton dotted Swiss type, with lace trim, a nice collar, a well coordinated pink silk hat, pink leather shoes, and a very nice full blond mohair wig with up-swept bangs held in place with a pink hair ribbon. The Santa has an unusual surface scratch behind the right ear, which appears to not go through, as when lit it only shows on the very outer surface and does not extend all the way through the bisque. This is likely just a mold flaw, but must be mentioned. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: Largest: 28" x 11" x 5".
