Lot of 2 Maya Greenstone Beads

Pre-Columbian, Maya territories, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A lovely pair beads, both presenting a smooth cylindrical form, hand-carved from mottled greenstone - one with sage-green hues and dark-green inclusions, the other with mottled green and russet hues. Both beads are biconically-drilled for stringing on your favorite cord or chain. Size of largest: 2.7" L x 0.75" W (6.9 cm x 1.9 cm)

Provenance: private Colgate, Wisconsin, USA collection acquired 1970s to 1990s; ex Gary Gresel, 1995

Condition Report: Both pieces have minor abrasions and pitting to surfaces, with small chips to terminal rims, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits within drilled suspension holes and nice surface smoothness across exteriors.
