Lot of 3 Chupicuaro Pottery Figures + Bead

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. An attractive set of three hand-built pottery figures as well as a pottery bead with highly stylized presentations characteristic of Chupicuaro artistry. The nude standing figure wears a striated headband and holds one arm to its mouth, and the taller standing figure wears an incised skirt and displays furrowed brows above coffee-bean-shaped eyes. The seated figure sits with crossed legs, holds one arm atop a bent knee, and has a conical finial surmounting the rounded hat. A discoid bead has raised spirals adorning the concave midsection and a suspension hole through the center. Lucite display stands for photography purposes only. Size of largest (standing figure): 1.5" W x 3.6" H (3.8 cm x 9.1 cm)

Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired before 2000

Condition Report: Repair to right leg of largest figure, with restoration to bodies and limbs of all three figures, and resurfacing with overpainting along break lines; bead is intact and very good. All items have light encrustations, nicks, and abrasions, with minor softening to some finer details. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
