Lot of 3 Chupicuaro Pottery Vessels - Ex Harner

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Guanajuato Valley, Chupicuaro, ca. 800 BCE to 200 CE. A delightful set of three pottery bowls, all displaying a lustrous burnish. Enveloped in a warm shade of orange-red, the largest presents with a rounded base, bulbous body, and circular rim that curves inward over a deep basin. The ancient vessel's exterior is adorned with diagonal stripes of beige around its rim. The smallest vessel exhibits a similar hemispherical form, though its rim is embellished with four petite handles for suspension and curves even more inward, creating a sloped shoulder. The charming bowl boasts a hue of beige with a sienna ring encompassing its shoulder. The last vessel is covered completely in a deep shade of russet and has an annular rim with a slight lip and a shallow basin. Its round base sits upon three conical legs, all hollow with three decorative perforations. Size of largest: 7.5" in diameter x 3.75" H (19 cm x 9.5 cm)

Condition Report: Vessel with legs has been repaired from several pieces. All have a few minor nicks throughout. Otherwise, excellent with impressive remaining pigment.
