Lot of 3 Huari Reed and Wool Fiber Weavings

[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $200**

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Huari/Wari culture, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. A brightly colored group of three woven images made from dyed camelid fiber on a backing of thin reeds. They depict all manner of zoomorphic images, including jaguars. The textiles that are preserved today are often from the desert areas between the Pacific Coast and the Andes; the Wari capital, in the highlands, was too wet to preserve cloth through the centuries, and as a result, textile fragments are quite rare. Size: 6.25" W x 3.45" H (15.9 cm x 8.8 cm)

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-private Hans Juergen Westermann collection, Germany

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent increases of shipments being seized by Australian & German customs (even for items with pre-UNESCO provenance), we will no longer ship most antiquities and ancient Chinese art to Australia & Germany. For categories of items that are acceptable to ship to Australia or Germany, please contact us directly or work with your local customs brokerage firm.

#139288
Condition Report: Although there is some slight fraying and small losses from edges, these are really in remarkable condition for their age and organic materials, with bright colors still present.
