Lot of 3 Islamic Nishapur Glazed Pottery Dishes
Medieval Near East, Persia (Iran), Nishapur area, ca. late 10th to early 13th century CE. A fine trio of wheel-thrown pottery dishes with shallow basins and squat feet. The first bowl is covered in turquoise-hued glaze and bears a helical motif around the rim as well as nine circular panels within the basin. The second bowl also bears turquoise-colored glaze and has petite black-hued stripes around the rim. The largest bowl exhibits dark-blue glaze with dozens of black strips on the rim as well as a trio of protruding nodules within the basin. Lucite display stands for photography purposes only. Condition Report: All pieces have minor abrasions and nicks to rims and feet, otherwise intact and very good. Nice iridescence in scattered glazed areas and great craquelure in some areas as well.
