Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A quartet of charming blown glass vessels, each made to hold perfumes, unguents, or other personal items for ancient Romans. Each features a bulbous lower body, a slender neck, and a flaring mouth with rolled rim. Size of largest: 2.1" W x 2.75" H (5.3 cm x 7 cm)
Provenance: private Dunn collection, Coral Springs, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1990s

Condition Report: The second largest has some small fractures on its underside and at its shoulder. These are unrepaired and appear stable. The other three are all intact. Nice deposits on surface. All four have pontil marks. Vessel possesses a pontil scar or mark which indicates that the vessel was free-blown. (The absence of such a mark would suggest that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or worn away over time.)
