[ translate ]

**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A quartet of delicate blown glass vessels, each made to hold perfumes, unguents, or other personal items for ancient Romans. Each features a thin neck and a flaring mouth with rolled rim but their lower bodies vary, with two having elongated forms with ribbed decoration, and the other two more conical, smooth bodies. The widest features absolutely beautiful pearlescent deposits that swirl around its interior. Size of widest: 1.6" W x 2.5" H (4.1 cm x 6.4 cm)

Provenance: private Dunn collection, Coral Springs, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1990s

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

#151502
Condition Report: The thinnest may have been repaired at its neck - deposits on the surface make it difficult to tell. Otherwise they are all intact with nice deposits on the surface and faint pearlescence/iridescence. All four have pontil marks. Vessel possesses a pontil scar or mark which indicates that the vessel was free-blown. (The absence of such a mark would suggest that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or worn away over time.)
