Lot of 4 Roman Glass Stirrers - One w/ Gold Bauble!

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A collection of four glass stirrers, each made of blown and twisted glass in long rods. Three are fragmentary, of which one has a very delicate spiral of trailing deep blue glass around its lower body. The fourth is intact and topped by a 22 karat gold bauble that forms a handle, with part of its surface covered with a thick layer of iridescence. Size of intact stirrer: 0.5" W x 5.75" H (1.3 cm x 14.6 cm); weight of stirrer with gold: 4.2 grams

Provenance: ex-Davis collection, Houston, Texas, acquired before 2013 from various auction houses in London and New York
