[ translate ]

Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Dong Son, ca. 100 BCE to 100 CE. A group of five cast bronze bracelets, each of a unique form. First, a bracelet with a braided motif; second, a wide cuff with a ribbed texture and borders at its top and bottom; third, a thick, hollow cuff, also with a cast ribbed texture; fourth, a tapering one that is thick at its center before narrowing to disc-like terminals; finally, another wide cuff with a ribbed texture and eight bells studded at regular intervals on its sides. The Dong Son (or Dongson, or Ðông Son) culture thrived in northern Vietnam, and its burials, rich in bronze goods, demonstrate a high level of wealth relative to neighboring areas. Bracelets like these would have adorned the elite deceased in their journey to the afterlife. Size of largest (bells): 3.75" W x 1.95" H (9.5 cm x 5 cm)

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex New England, USA collection, 2000s

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.
