Lot of Six Iron Arrow Tips - One With Openwork

**First Time At Auction**

Europe, Roman period to Medieval period, ca. 1st century BCE to 9th Century CE. A collection of six well-preserved iron arrow tips of varying forms and sizes, all flat with long tangs. Two are petaloid in shape with one more rounded and narrow than the other. One is rhombus-shaped with open work, possibly to function as a flaming arrow. Another is of smaller size and has a cylindrical socket at one end, suggesting it may be for a heavier arrow or used for a crossbow. The last two are of diamond shape with one more slender and pointed than the other. Wonderful examples from a variety of European cultures and contexts! Size of largest: 5.25" L x 1" W x .1875" H (13.3 cm x 2.5 cm x 0.5 cm)
