Lot of two groups; Spain and France, c. 1910- 1930.
Bronze.
Signed.
Measurements: 11 x 11.5 x 7 cm; 8.5 x 13 x 5.5 cm.
Set formed by two bronze sculptures representing in one of the cases two monkeys and in the other a reptile. During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, animal-themed sculpture finally achieved its own status within the context of Romantic sculpture. Seeking to break away from the classical sculptural ideal, many artists saw in the animal theme a new way of expression, linked to the emotional and irrational nature, in a purely romantic sense.
