Lots (1-12) form part of the collection of a wealthy family that moved to China as missionaries in the late 19th century, living in Beijing and later Shanghai. Their son served as Assistant Commissioner to the Shanghai Municipal Police in 1919 until 1928. The family returned to England shortly after the Second World War. A Chinese tianqi lacquered scroll-form stand, Yongzheng period, finely decorated to the interior and exterior with figures in landscapes, the sides pierced with ruyi, 31cm high x 56cm wide x 30cm deep 清雍正 木雕填漆座 來源:拍品號1至12皆為伉儷私人收藏。19世紀後期,紳士及其家庭以其傳教士的身份移居中國北京及上海,其子於1919年至1928年委任上海市警察局的副局長,於二戰後返回英国。
