Sculpture by Louis Moreau. Auguste Moreau was a French sculptor best known for his cast bronze figurines. His allegorical Art Nouveau works often depicted women, children, angels and historical figures, decorated with floral motifs and ornaments, and were influential for other artists who worked at the time. Born in Dijon, France, in 1855 in a celebrated family of sculptors, including his father, Auguste Moreau, he regularly exhibited his work at the Paris Salon from 1861. The artist died in France in 1919. The image is believed to have been recently updated in terms of patina. The pedestal is of a later date.
