Louis Philippus ("Louis") , born 1873 in Rotterdam, died 1943 in Gouda. He lived and worked in Rotterdam, The Hague, Java, Philadelphia (USA) , Utrecht, Zuilen, Amsterdam, Hilversum and ‘s-Graveland. He was a student at academy of fine arts in Rotterdam and the The Hague drawing academy for a short period. Was a pupil of J. A. B. Stroebel. He painted and drew landscapes and seascapes. Was a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam and of several Gooische painters' associations. (Pieter Scheen)
