Order signed by Louis XIV, during the War of the Spanish Succession, and countersigned by Michel de Chamillard, Minister of War, addressed to Mr. de Talvennes, governor of Menin. This letter describes the conditions, events and results of the battle of Höchstädt, delivered to the Austrians by Marshal de Villars, on September 20, 1703 and prescribes a Te Deum and public rejoicings.
The letter is accompanied by a certificate from 1943 signed by Dr. Jean Baptiste Colbert de Beaulieu (research director at the CNRS, scholar and numismatist) , with full transcription of the text of the letter.
