18th century, the slightly bowed and rectangular top above a conforming frieze with foliate shell patterns, raised on molded C-scroll legs joined by a shell stretcher and ending in scrolled toes, bearing a metal plaque to the apron reverse reading "meubles/objets d'art/anciens et modernes/cassard et cie/paris 61. Av. Philippe Auguste/new-york/The cassard-romano Co. Inc./234 East 59. th St".

Provenance: Collection of Sue Trammell Whitfield, Houston, Texas.
Condition Report: The legs, stretcher and apron are all tight and secure at their joints. The piece needs to be affixed to a wall. The surface exhibits a number of mars, abrasions, scuffs and shrinkage, all leading to an attractive distressed patina. The top has a couple dark rings and a few small areas of thin/lifted finish in addition to the other noted mars.
