Louis XVI style table clock with five-light chandeliers, 19th century
A late 19th century French table clock in the Louis XVI style, in gilt bronze and porcelain. The clock case is made of dark cobalt-blue porcelain in the Sèvres style, ornamented with handles and a lid in the form of acanthus leaves, scrolls and garlands. On the base, which rests on four toupie feet, two little lovebirds seated among flowers are covered with garlands. Two candlesticks, also in dark cobalt-blue porcelain and gilt bronze, complete the composition. They have five arms at the top that end in a spiral decorated with floral motifs and medallions in relief of a lion's head arranged on the sides.
