Louis XV/XVI commode, signed Simon Guillaume, c. 1765, France, Brescia marble top, the case inlaid with hunting scene to drawers fronts at center, flower vine banding, floret marquetry to sides panels, gilded mounts, sabots, and drawer pulls, partial stamp of "Guillaume" signature visible at top corners of commode, for Simon Guillaume, Paris, top of one drawer stamped "Edwards & Roberts", museum accession number to underside of commode and to drawer interior, approx. 34.5"h x 50.5"w x 23"d

Provenance: Sold to benefit the Rosenbach Museum & Library, Philadelphia
Condition Report: Fair, separation break to one side of commode, the other side appears repaired, wood cracks and shrinkage, scattered small veneer losses and chips, areas around drawer pulls gouged (particularly top drawer), surface distress and marring, some staining, marble repaired, with cracks, and edge chipping, possibly adaptations and modifications **Note: Condition reports are based on visual inspection under typical office lighting.
