Louise Bourgeois The Rectory
Louise Bourgeois
1911 - 2010
The Rectory
incised with the initials LB, date 02, number 1/6 and stamped with the foundry mark (on the base of the silver house)
silver sculpture in steel, glass and wood vitrine with three mirrors
67 by 24 by 24 in.
170.2 by 61 by 61 cm.
Executed in 2002, this work is number 1 from an edition of 6, plus 1 artist's proof.
Condition Report:
This work is in very good and sound condition overall. All elements are stable and secure and the mirrors move smoothly and freely. Upon close inspection, there are scattered and unobtrusive abrasions, scuffs and spot accretions to the exterior cage and base. In the interior, scattered scuffs, chips and separations to the wood grain are visible which are inherent to the artist's chosen medium. All variations to the patina and surface inconsistencies on the silver house are inherent to the artist's working method and chosen medium. As expected with a sculpture of this construction, a light layer of dust has settled on the surface and in the interior.
Provenance:
