Lovely Chancay Textile Female Doll
**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A wonderful doll meant as a child's plaything made from woven natural cotton fibers in hues of azure, chocolate, tan, fuchsia, citrine, and cream. The figure has thread-wrapped legs hidden beneath a diagonally striped skirt and wears a lengthy tunic complete with a loosely-woven, gauze-like shawl across her shoulders. Her enlarged head features white eyes outlined in black, red thread for the nose and lips, a light-orange face, and a brown coiffure adorned with a broad headband featuring abstract simian creatures. Size: 3" W x 9" H (7.6 cm x 22.9 cm)
