Lovely Closed Mouth Early German Doll.
This 14" (36cm) bisque socket head doll is incised "126" and is thought to be made by Baehr & Proschild, and often referred to as a "Belton" type doll even thought she has an open crown, as these were thought to be of German manufacture but representing French dolls of the same era. She has lovely rich brown paperweight eyes, nice shading above the eyelids, multi-stroke thick brows, well painted lashes, the slight illusion of a space between the closed lips, and nice facial coloring. She is on the original fully jointed wood and composition body with straight wrists, and wears a lovely antique blond mohair wig with bangs. The dress is pink wool with black velvet and black fringe trim, with silk braid trim around the collar. The shoes are also antique. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 15" x 8" x 3".
