[ translate ]

Magna Graecia, South Italy, probably Gnathian, ca 325 BCE. A sweet and petite lekythos, the body decorated with an attractive net pattern, striations bordering the netted pattern above and below, vertical frets on the lower neck, and pigment on the spout, handle, and just above the base, all in red against a buff ground. Just lovely. Size: 5.125" H (13 cm)

Provenance: private Alabama collection; ex-Roy Green collection aquired prior to 2013

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

#148668
Condition Report: The red decoration was most likely intended to be black but turned red due to misfiring. This said, it was a happy accident as the result is quite attractive. A deep scratch to the clay at lower end of the body. Otherwise very good.
