Ludwig Mies van der Rohe - Alivar- Chair - Barcelona chair

The armchair is in perfect condition — new with no signs of wear. Used only for display for a few months

. Padded seat and backrest
. Suspension with leather straps

. HISTORY
. This chair was designed for the Deutcher Werkbund pavilion at the Barcelona World Fair of 1929. Two chairs in this model were used by the king and queen of Spain for their official visit to the pavilion to sign the guest book. This model is commonly called the 'Barcelona Chair'. It was initially produced by Berliner Metallgewerbe Joseph Müller. In 1931, production was taken over by Bamberg Metallwerkstätten in Berlin. The square details in the padding are generally attributed to the influence of friend and collaborator, Lilly Reich.
