Philatelie
Varia and Miscellaneous – A unique collection of an original album containing 56 Lufthansa First Flight Covers from 1978. - First Flight Covers were issued to mark the opening of new routes and thus also document the expansion of air traffic in all directions at this time. The covers, each consisting of a colour-illustrated envelope and an inserted greeting card, were always carried on the first aircraft on the new route (outbound or return flight), feature special stamps and 1-2 special postmarks each, and usually also bore the local arrival postmark as proof that they had actually been posted. Among others, the inaugural flights from Cairo to Frankfurt, Bogota to Caracas, Frankfurt to Athens to Jeddah and Anchorage to Osaka are documented. - As the accompanying letter shows, this very album is a gift from the then Lufthansa Director of Public Relations, Karl H. Koepcke, to the editor of a US aviation magazine. - A unique philatelic and aviation-historical document, here in excellent condition.
