. . . in the slow and constant unfolding of his research Luigi Rossanigo followed a particular artistic training, characterized by various experiments in different disciplines. From his first pictorial experiences in which the subject was treated with direct reference to reality, the artist, in the first half of the 1970s, progressively approached an abstract conception of form, synthesized in rapid and frank gestures. This informal parenthesis found its natural evolution in a surrealism experienced with a very personal introspective intention, among abnormal mystifications of reality, pinned down with the precision of the eighteenth-century traveller. Simultaneously cultivating his delight in the precious goldsmith's art and approaching the sculptural environment of Carrara, the multi-talented artist felt the need to try his hand at the volumetric definition of the marble block, transferring onto it the three-dimensional interpretation of the work already imagined for the 'golden jewel. This process led Rossanigo to modify the structural system of the painting, moving on to the creation of tensile structures and multi-material compounds, a new dialectic in which the agreement between painting and sculpture took shape.
