Luis Filcer - Toneel

Luis Filcer (Zhytomyr, Ukraine, 1927 – 2018, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico) was a Mexican expressionist visual artist. Filcer began his career as an artist in Mexico, where he had fled with his family in 1928, when he was only six months old, due to the persecution of the Jewish population after the Russian Revolution. At the age of sixteen, he began studying at the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico City. In the morning he took classes and in the afternoon he worked on his paintings and drawings.

Filcer lived and worked in the Netherlands for more than twenty years, much of which in De Rijp (NH) . His work has been exhibited more than 340 times in leading museums and galleries around the world.

The work comes from the artist's heirs.
