Small Luristan bowl - 9th-6th century BC.

Simple and aesthetic bowl from the ancient region of Luristan. Its beauty lies in the shape and simplistic design, embellished by its green patina.

The bronzes of Luristan are one of the most impressive facets of the Persian Empire, their mastery and variety, as well as the good condition in which they have arrived, have made them one of the archaeological evidences of this culture. They are called Luristan bronzes because it is there where large quantities have been found, made in the Iron Age, and assimilated safely with the Persian Empire. The typologies are very varied, from weapons, tools, horse fittings, etc. As they were transhumant people, the pieces are not very heavy.

Provenance: Purchased by the current owner to an English art gallery. Previously owned by a private Japanese collector (1970-2000) .
