Luristan Bronze Socketed Spear Tip

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A cast-bronze spear head of a petite form with a petaloid blade and a cylindrical socketing shaft. The blade has a shallow midrib on both sides and sharpened edges that taper to a blunt tip. Mottled green and brown patina has formed across the surfaces. Size: 0.9" W x 6.4" H (2.3 cm x 16.3 cm); 8.3" H (21.1 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private J.H. collection, Beaverton, Oregon, USA, acquired in the early 1990s; ex-private New York, New York, USA collection
