LOT 0057

Luristan Bronze Spear Point

[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $150**

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan culture, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. An enormous bronze spear head cast via the lost-wax (cire perdue) process. The weapon has a broad leaf-shaped blade, a stocky diamond-shaped handle, a slender tang, and a shallow midrib which runs the length of the blade and handle. The large size of this spear head suggests this may have been used by a horse-riding warrior, enabling them to kill an opposing horse in one strike rather than with multiple strikes using a smaller weapon. Size: 1.75" W x 12.8" H (4.4 cm x 32.5 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired before 2000

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

#145486
Condition Report: Small nicks from blade edge, but form is very nicely preserved. With mottled grey deposits over a pale green patina.
