Luristan Bronze Spearhead with Rat Tail Tang
A finely cast Luristan bronze spearhead, featuring a long leaf-shaped blade with a prominent mid-rib. The handle features a rhombus-shaped guard which leads to a rat-tail tang. The surface is covered with patination along with slight encrustations.
Luristan bronze comes from the province of Lorestan, a region situated in the area of modern South-Western Iran. Luristan weapons, such as this nice example, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased.
